Eaton superchargers were the choice for Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes and BMW Mini.  They’re dependable units which give good service life and reliability, but like any machine they can be subject to wear and sometimes early failure.

Key to avoiding an expensive replacement is to catch failure early while the supercharger is still repairable – leave it too long, and the rotors will start to eat themselves and the outer casing.

Supercharger Rebuild Kits

If your supercharger is staring to make noise, don’t wait long before deciding to embark on a supercharger rebuild, and when you do you will need the correct specification bearings and seals that come in our Eaton supercharger rebuild kits.

In general, there isn’t very much that can go wrong with a supercharger.  Oil seals can fail, or bearings can wear out.  In either case, replacing them is necessary, and if you have workshop facilities and access to a hydraulic press, you may wish to take the task on yourself with one of our Eaton supercharger rebuild kits.  Our standard supercharger rebuild kits contain new seal and bearings for the snout end, new needle roller bearings for the rear end, and oil to refill after rebuild.

Rotor Packs

If specifically asked we can provide seals and bearings for rebuilding rotor packs, but this is a challenging task rarely completed successfully.

If your rotor pack is damaged, we do not recommend attempted repair as the only sure way to fix a worn rotor pack is to obtain a new item from Eaton.

Your Supercharger Needs Fresh Oil

To keep your supercharger healthy, it needs fresh oil, as the ‘sealed for life’ claim only means it will last until it’s out of manufacturer warranty period! No oil lasts forever. Although Eaton uses a high quality synthetic aviation turbine oil in its supercharger range, the oil is not indestructible and does oxidize gradually over years of exposure to high working temperatures.

After only 50,000 miles, the original oil can have degraded from the nice clear sample on the left to burnt-smelling brown soup like the right hand sample – not good for protecting the bearings and seals in your Eaton supercharger!
